INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. SAFETY WARNING
For your own safety, this product must be installed in accordance with local Building Regulations. If you are in any doubt, (or where required by the law), consult a competent person who is registered with an electrical self-certification scheme. For further information, contact your Local Authority.
Please read these instructions carefully and use the product in accordance with these safety wiring instructions. Before starting any electrical work, ensure the supply is switched off at the mains. This can be done either by switching off the consumer unit or by removing the appropriate fuse. Wiring should be in accordance with the 1/4 latest edition of the IEE regulations (BS 7671). To prevent any fire hazards, always use cable of the correct rating, type and size for the application.
Any bare earth wires must be covered with appropriate green/yellow sleeving.

2. WIRE IDENTIFICATION
Wire Identification- Twin & Earth Cable.
Note- From the 1st April 2004, new colour codes for hard wire installation were introduced
EARTH= GREEN/YELLOW Sleeving
NEUTRAL= BLACK (pre Apr 04 / BLUE (after Apr 04)
LIVE= RED (pre Apr 04 / BROWN (after Apr 04)
Any bare wires must be covered with appropriate sleeving. The ends of the individual conductors should have insulation removed by approximately 10mm. Any bare earth conductors should be sleeved to within 10mm of the ends. (These details are for general information only and conductor lengths may need to be trimmed in certain installations). For lighting circuits, use sleeving of the appropriate 'live' colour to ensure clear identification of live connections. To prevent fire hazards always make sure to use cable of the correct rating and type.

5. INSTALLING A NEW UNIT
IF IN DOUBT, CONSULT A COMPETENT ELECTRICIAN.
1. As stated in the safety warning section, first ensure you turn off the power supply at the mains. To ensure you install this product correctly, please consult the included wiring diagram. When connecting the new accessory ensure that only the bare end of the wire enters the terminal, and that no bare wires are visible. Always ensure you tighten the terminal screws securely and fully.
2. Next, unscrew the top cover from the product.
3. The power cord enters the unit from the bottom and then connects to the terminals according to the included diagram. Install the cables to the appropriate terminals.
4. Securely screw the base unit to a ceiling joist or wall, as appropriate. Take care to avoid existing wiring or pipe work.
5. To assist with the correct installation of this product, please consult the wiring diagram.
6. Screw the top cover back onto the product.
7. Once you are sure that all work has been completed correctly, replace the fuse for the circuit (if applicable), switch the power back on and test it. The product is now ready for use.
6. MAINTENANCE
In order to maintain the product, when required, wipe over the surface of the unit with just a soft cloth periodically. Do not use harsh chemical solvents as this may lead to discolouration or may damage the finish of the unit.
7. WASTE & RECYCLING
This product should be recycled or disposed of in the correct manner when it reaches the end of its life. Check with local authorities for where facilities exist.
