It's a very quiet switch and in that regard we're delighted, but there's very little 'feel' to it and because it doesn't make a noise our elderly relatives pull far too hard on the cord, thinking that it hasn't worked (despite the light turning on or off). It is really quiet though, although now what we hear instead of a click is along the lines of "I think I've pulled it too hard again", following the noise of the handle bouncing off the wall with the recoil.
